MEET DR. QUEBBEMANN

Dr. Brian Quebbemann, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.A.S.M.B.S. is one of the nation’s leading practitioners of bariatric surgery. His number one professional interest is improving the level of service available for patients with metabolic diseases involving obesity, diabetes, chronic fatigue and others. He believes that the common treatments for overweight and obesity, including many weight loss surgery programs, continue to rely on failed dieting advice that is unrealistic and blame-oriented rather than focusing on realistic solutions for real patients.

Since starting at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach in 1997, Dr. Quebbemann has continuously used innovative procedures to improve patient outcomes. He performed many minimally invasive surgical procedures for the first time in Orange County, and continues to pursue the least invasive surgical techniques available. Several Hoag Hospital “Firsts” include the first Laparoscopic Splenectomy, the first Laparoscopic Anti-Reflux Surgery, the first Laparoscopic Inguinal Hernia Repair and the first Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass (in the year 2000). He was a surgeon in the Lap-Band® FDA trial in 2000 making him one of the first surgeons in America to perform the Lap-Band^® procedure.

Being a pioneer in surgery has never stopped for Dr. Quebbemann. He was the first surgeon in the world to perform the Gastric Sleeve using the Spider Single Incision System, he helped design the clinical trial protocols for the Reshape gastric balloon and select surgeons for that FDA trial, and he has perfected his Scar-Less Gastric Sleeve procedure. He recently pioneered the S.L.I.M.M.S.^® Procedures, including the S.L.I.M.M.S.^®-Metabolic Procedure, S.L.I.M.M.S.^®-Lifestyle Procedure and the S.L.I.M.M.S.^®-Revision for Gastric Bypass.

In 2000, Dr. Quebbemann founded CALSURG, Inc., Center for Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, and in 2001 he founded The N.E.W. Program, Inc., a comprehensive medical and surgical weight management program. In 2019, he published a system called DietaryRebuild™ to solve the number one problem in permanent weight control, which is prevention of weight regain. His book, also titled DietaryRebuild™, is available on Amazon, along with his other books titled Permanent Surgical Weight Loss, World’s Greatest Weight Loss, and High Impact Weight Loss (in print).
