MEET DR. QUEBBEMANN

Dr. Brian Quebbemann, M.D. is one of the nation’s leading practitioners of weight loss surgery. His number one professional interest is improving the services available for patients with metabolic diseases involving obesity, diabetes, chronic fatigue, and others. He believes that the common treatments for overweight and obesity, including most weight loss surgery programs, rely on failed dieting advice.

Since starting at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, California in 1997, Dr. Quebbemann has continuously used innovative procedures to improve patient outcomes. He was the first to perform many minimally invasive surgical procedures in Orange County, and continues to pioneer advances in minimally invasive surgery. Several “Firsts” in Orange County include the first Laparoscopic Splenectomy, the first Laparoscopic Anti-Reflux Surgery, the first Laparoscopic Inguinal Hernia Repair, the first Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass (in the year 2000), the first Lap-Band® FDA trial (in 2001) and the first Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy.

Being a pioneer in minimally invasive surgical techniques has never stopped for Dr. Quebbemann. He was the first surgeon in the world to perform the Gastric Sleeve using the Spider Single Incision System, and he has developed a Scar-Less Reversible Gastric Sleeve procedure. Most recently, he developed the four S.L.I.M.M.S.® Procedures.

As part of his commitment to advancing the field of weight loss surgery, Dr. Quebbemann published several articles on bariatric surgery in scientific journals and served on the editorial staff for the journal Obesity Surgery.

In 2023 he founded SLIMMS, Incorporated to provide information on the SLIMMS Procedures he has developed.
